North Star Pango - Peach Mango Wheat Beer - Seasonal Summer Offering Pango is lightly hopped to about the bitterness of an american domestic beer. Basically, there is no bitterness. Pango is finished with a blend of Peach and Mango. This American Wheat/Fruit beer is another great example of North Star creating it's own flavors and having it's own vision. The first batch of Pango that was kegged was gone in seven days. We took it out of the brew rotation for a month and it is about to return. pango will be avaialble in 6-packs and on draught Sept. 12, 2008. This beer is specifically brewed for those that love easy drinking fruit beers. Let us be clear, however, Pango is still a beer. It is not brewed like most fruit beers... Pango still tastes like a beer and the peach and mango flavors are very subtle. Food pairings: Fowl with a fruit glaze/marinade. You might consider enjoying this with Mango Salsa or a spinach salad with blue cheese crumbles, mandarin oranges, toasted pecans and a balsamic/olive oil drizzle. Will go well with light desserts, such as souffles or chiffon cake.

"It's the beer, its always been the beer."
North Star Bright - Our lightest, year around offering.
Food pairings: Salads, fish, shellfish (makes great steamer clams sauce/broth), soups, pizza and sandwiches & buffalo wings. use bright to deglaze and to thin marinades/bbq sauces. you might as well steam some vegetables with it while your at it!
North Star Horizons - American Amber Ale Horizons Amber Ale was designed from the get go to appeal to everyone. Again, this offering is not over bitter, but has just enough bitterness to balance the strong caramel malt back bone. Horizons is hopped with a blend of cascade and Mt. Hood/Liberty hops. Brewmaster, Shawn Sease, claims that blending "Halletauer" type hops (e.g. Mt. Hood, Liberty, Crystal) or "Tettnager" hops with cascade cuts the "one dimensional" super spicy/grapefuity character of cascade hops and creates a wonderful blend of flavor and aroma. During the two weeks of cold conditioning Horizons Amber Ale develops a nice smooth lager-like character. You will find Horizons Amber Ale to be pleasing all of the time... Never offensive. Food pairings: Good all around beer for any food that isn't sweet - something sweet will detract from the maltiness of the Amber Ale. Try it with any sandwich, hearty soups/stews, pizza of course. Amber is also a great thirst quencher for Mexican/Spicy food as well as any BBQ.
North Star E.S.B. (Extra Special Bitter)
North Star I.P.A. - India Pale Ale The current batch of IPA was brewed to accentuate the hop aroma. The light-handed crystal malt addition gives the IPA just enough malt character beyond the base malt to stand up to the huge hop aroma without being sweet. The current hop blend: East Kent Goldings, Cascade, Chinook, Tettnanger and Liberty. This cornucopia of hops creates an unrivaled unique aroma.
We have always received great compliments for our IPA's and we can't thank you enough! Our IPA is made with some pretty strong opinions/assumptions of how IPA should be made: These opinoins are secrets, but the brewmaster has been known to share after having a pint or two of IPA :-).
Our current offering is dripping with hops and hop aroma. The malt backbone is light and the bitterness is just nice - not overwhelming, but the aroma - wow!
North Star Blackhole - Oatmeal Stout Full-body, thick, rich and smooth as silk. The aroma is a rich, chocolately, roasty, caramel fantasy with notes of mocha and fresh brewed espresso. Blackhole is deceptive via the absence of an alcohol aroma that can sometimes accompany beers of this gravity (strength). Blackhole has it all: A blend of American and British base and specialty malts. There is a huge addition of American and British Crystal/Caramel malts ranging from 60L - 165L. Blackhole Stout has a huge addition of American and British chocolate malts and plenty of British Roasted Barley. Of course their are a couple hundred pounds of Oatmeal and ABSOLUTELY NO FINISHING HOPS - Why ruin the complexity of those great malts! This beer is just screaming "Blackhole" - Someone said "You don't see it coming and once you do it's too late your already sucked in" Food pairings: same as porter: Think hearty foods -- meat dishes with gravy, barbecue, shepherd's pie, stew. Oysters are also ideal. Both these beers and brown ales will stand up to stronger cheeses such as sharp cheddar and blue.
North Star - Porter The British/English Ale yeast adds a great complexity to the Porter, which would not be present if the American Ale/house yeast strain was used to ferment this beer. The North Star Porter includes 100% British Pale Malt (maris otter malt), plus a nice addition of British 90L and 135L crystal malts, and is finished off with a large portion of British Chocolate Malt. The North Star Porter is brewed true style and IS NOT opaque - when your pint glass sits on a table or bar the Porter will look black and opaque. However, when you lift your glass into the light the beer is clear and DARK, DARK RED, the way a porter should be.
The North Star Porter will remain true to style and will never have Roasted Barley as part of the grist. Roasted Barley belongs in Stout, never in a Porter. This Porter is outstanding and is very popular among patrons of the brewery Our Brew Master, Shawn Sease, is an owner of the brewery, a 16 year veteran of brewing, as well as a graduate of the "American Brewers Guild". He holds a master brewers certification in "Craft Brewing Science and Engineering". North Star's philosophy is simple: "Less is more". The end result: incredible beers packed with flavor, character and complexity. Our beers are not like anything that you have tasted before. North Star Craft Brewery creates fresh, new flavors through the precise blending of water, malt, yeast and hops. North Star brews some of the best beer you will ever drink. A solid recipe: 16 years of brewing, a formal education in brewing, a lot of beers reviewed , a vested interest in the the brewery and a strong conviction for the way beer should be made.
